Iphone

How many times can Apple reinvent the Iphone? Apple released the first iphone in 2007 but development began in 2004. But how did Apples team know what the consumer wanted? They used marketing strategies to find out what their customer base wanted. Apple has been smart in the design of the iphone as well as timing their release of new technology. But the iphone5 may be Apples first flop according to FOX News, their were mixed reviews after its recent release. The iphone5 release was one of the most anticipated drops this year but the product did not meet customers expectations. In this case Apple over estimated the need for a new product; reviews were not pleased with the slimmer style as well as the replacement of Google maps. Apple made an early release and New York Times "Reviewer David Pogue complains about the new Lightning connector, saying "it doesn't fit any existing accessories, docks or chargers. If you have a few accessories, you could easily pay $150 for adapters." Apple should have anticipated this issue, another angle could be Apple trying to phase out their other older merchandise forcing people to upgrade.

The Complete iPhone 5 Meta-Review
Apple needs to rethink what their customer base needs and the level of saturation within the market. How many people you know are going to upgrade their iphone3 or iphone4 for a slimmer, slightly faster iphone5. I may be an exception to their customer base, but I do not see myself upgrading. I do not see a great enough change in the product to justify purchasing a new one.

Joe

What could be the most popular toy in recorded history? It is not Barbie, not a Hot Wheels car and not a Furby; the toy of the century is G.I. Joe. The Children's Museum of Indianapolis recently took a vote and G.I. Joe has been proclaimed the most popular toy.

In 1964 G.I. Joe was born in the the Hasbro factory. He was a rugged all American Hero, he appealed to children all over the country. But my perception of Joe was a dirty, savage fighter, who was not even allowed in the Barbie box. Since then many Joes have been made, all ready for any adventure.

Museum president and CEO J. Patchen was quoted "The stories people have shared about intergenerational learning, family traditions and memories has been heartwarming and life changing in some cases".

Other popular toys are:
      1. GI Joe
      2. Transformer
      3. Lego
      4. Barbie
      5. View-Master
      6. Bicycle
      7. Cabbage Patch Kids
      8. Crayons
      9. Play-doh
      10. Monopoly
      11. Raggedly Ann
      12. Spirograph
      13. Etch A Sketch
      14. Little Golden Books
      15. Hot Wheels
      16. Lincoln Logs
      17. Candy Land
      18. Roller Skates
      19. Silly Putty
      20. Mr. Potato Head

Facebook

Facebook may be one of the most influential aspects of teen life today. Whether it is looking at what your friends did last weekend or liking a company fan page the mind is being influenced. We were talking in one of my classes about the price that shares of Facebook closed for last week; in the high teens and it is significantly lower than what most people paid when Facebook was first introduced to the market at 38 per share.  I saw a photo that made me so glad I deleted my Facebook
Facebook is not just a social cite anymore it is a drug; and people can be addicted to it. This is a very bold statement to make but I can say from personal experience that Facebook can be addicting. The first thing I would do after class was open my computer and go to my Facebook account.  We are constantly posting and updating these social cites so much so that there is hardly any need to ask your friends “how was your weekend” because Facebook has already told you.

My name is Alyssa and I'm currently a junior at Montana State University studying business marketing and English writing. I grew up about 35 minutes outside of New York City, in a small town in Connecticut. I came out to Montana to enjoy the outdoors, and so far they have been treating me well.  I ski about 4 days in the winter and this summer have started to fly fish.
