Iphone

How many times can Apple reinvent the Iphone? Apple released the first iphone in 2007 but development began in 2004. But how did Apples team know what the consumer wanted? They used marketing strategies to find out what their customer base wanted. Apple has been smart in the design of the iphone as well as timing their release of new technology. But the iphone5 may be Apples first flop according to FOX News, their were mixed reviews after its recent release. The iphone5 release was one of the most anticipated drops this year but the product did not meet customers expectations. In this case Apple over estimated the need for a new product; reviews were not pleased with the slimmer style as well as the replacement of Google maps. Apple made an early release and New York Times "Reviewer David Pogue complains about the new Lightning connector, saying "it doesn't fit any existing accessories, docks or chargers. If you have a few accessories, you could easily pay $150 for adapters." Apple should have anticipated this issue, another angle could be Apple trying to phase out their other older merchandise forcing people to upgrade.

The Complete iPhone 5 Meta-Review
Apple needs to rethink what their customer base needs and the level of saturation within the market. How many people you know are going to upgrade their iphone3 or iphone4 for a slimmer, slightly faster iphone5. I may be an exception to their customer base, but I do not see myself upgrading. I do not see a great enough change in the product to justify purchasing a new one.
