What could be the most popular toy in recorded history? It is not Barbie, not a Hot Wheels car and not a Furby; the toy of the century is G.I. Joe. The Children's Museum of Indianapolis recently took a vote and G.I. Joe has been proclaimed the most popular toy.

In 1964 G.I. Joe was born in the the Hasbro factory. He was a rugged all American Hero, he appealed to children all over the country. But my perception of Joe was a dirty, savage fighter, who was not even allowed in the Barbie box. Since then many Joes have been made, all ready for any adventure.
Museum president and CEO J. Patchen was quoted "The stories people have shared about intergenerational learning,
family traditions and memories has been heartwarming and life changing
in some cases".
